But, if THR’s prediction pans out and Universal announces a Furious 8 release date at CinemaCon in late April, they’re going to have to lock in a director soon enough. Universal sets the release date and then Vin Diesel starts working on the story with Moritz, Chris Morgan and a director. Apparently these movies are made in reverse.
However, as the outlet points out, that’s never stopped a Fast and Furious film from moving forward before. According to THR’s sources, the plan is to make a total of 10 films as Langley suggested back in October, but at the moment, there’s no writer or director attached for the next installment.
